The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit at Loyola College celebrated NSS Day with great enthusiasm and purpose. The event highlighted the importance of social responsibility, patriotism, and community service among students. The celebration was inaugurated by the esteemed Principal of Sharada Vidyaniketan College of Education, Dr. Thimmaiah Shetty Illuru. In his inaugural address, Dr. Illuru stressed that every student should develop a strong sense of patriotism, a spirit of service, and a willingness to contribute through manual labor. He spoke on the founding principles of the NSS, urging students to remain committed to national service and to cultivate essential human and social values. Dr. Illuru encouraged students to maintain a pure heart and mind, participate proactively in village cleanliness drives, and handle life’s victories and defeats with equanimity. He concluded by advising them to understand and embody the rich culture of India. Presiding over the event, Fr. Vinod Paul, the Principal of Loyola College, echoed these sentiments. He urged students to perform every task, no matter how small, with dedication and love. Fr. Paul emphasized the need for students to introspect and change themselves to foster a mindset of social awareness. He concluded by reminding them that their work should be driven by a genuine desire for national service and self-satisfaction, rather than by the pursuit of certificates or mere recognition.
