    Mathematics Beyond the Classroom: Careers and Motivation for Young Minds The Department of Mathematics celebrated National Mathematics Day on 27 January 2026 with great enthusiasm at Arrupe Hall. The programme aimed to highlight the significance of mathematics beyond classroom learning and to motivate students to explore diverse career opportunities in the field. The programme commenced with a warm welcome by Ms. Zeba and was efficiently compered by Ms. Bhagya Prasanna. The Chief Guest, Dr. V. Ramanjini, Assistant Professor, GFGC Lingasuguru, was formally introduced by Ms. Dish T, who highlighted his academic achievements, including his RGNF Fellowship and the publication of 15 research papers in reputed journals. The Keynote Address was delivered by Ms. Shweta, Coordinator, who emphasized the relevance of mathematics in everyday life and its wide-ranging career prospects. In his Guest Address, Dr. Ramanjini spoke about the life and contributions of Srinivasa Ramanujan and other eminent Indian mathematicians such as Aryabhata, Bhaskaracharya, and Varahamihira, inspiring students to pursue mathematics beyond the classroom. To encourage student participation and creativity, various competitions such as Quiz, Design Dynamo, and Visual Storytelling were conducted. The winners were awarded prizes by Ms. Loretta. Ms. M. Bhagyaprasanna (III Semester) was specially honoured for securing the highest marks in Mathematics. The Chief Guest was felicitated, and the programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Eshwari. The celebration was informative, inspiring, and a great success.
