In a collaborative effort by Loyola College, Manvi, and the 'Belagu Samsthe' of Muddamaguddi, a poignant staging of the play 'Ramai' was held on February 12. Based on the novel by Prof. H.T. Pote, the play was performed by the renowned 'Sangama Kala Tanda' from Bagalkot. The event was inaugurated by Sri Mirza Mohammed Baig, Social Worker and Field Inspector of the Labour Department. In his inaugural address, Mr. Baig described Ramai (Ramabai Ambedkar) as the "backbone of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s struggle." He emphasized that her immense sacrifice, patience, and generosity serve as an enduring model for women across the world. The 'Sangama Kala Tanda' delivered a captivating performance that deeply resonated with the audience. The play vividly portrayed Dr. Ambedkar's childhood, education, and social struggles, while highlighting the hardships endured by Ramabai. It showcased their unwavering determination to become a beacon of hope for the oppressed. Mr. A. Sharanakumar, President of Belagu Samsthe, delivered the introductory speech. The event was graced by the presence of Sri Prabhuraj Kodli (State President, Karnataka Madiga Sangha) and Fr. Vinod Paul. Students from Xavier School, Loyola School, and Loyola Degree College participated in large numbers, contributing to the grand success of the program.
