    NSS Special Annual Camp 2026 The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Loyola College, Manvi organized a 7-day Special Annual Camp from 28th March to 3rd April 2026 at Hulugunchi village, located on the border of Manvi and Sindhanur taluks. Guided by the NSS motto “Not Me, But You,” the camp aimed at promoting personality development among students through meaningful community service and social engagement. The camp began with an inaugural ceremony on Day 1 at Hulugunchi village. The Chief Guest, Sr. Leena Pais, Director of Loyola Health Centre, emphasized that NSS plays a vital role in fostering national integration and instilling a spirit of service among youth. Mr. Khasim Saab, Vice-Principal of Loyola College, addressed the volunteers and encouraged them to become responsible citizens and future leaders through active participation in social initiatives. On Day 2, the theme of communal harmony and social awareness was highlighted. The volunteers visited places of worship including Veerabhadreshwara Temple, the local Mosque, and St. Anthony’s Church to understand the importance of religious harmony and mutual respect among communities. Later, Ms. Preethi from the Department of Zoology delivered an informative lecture on blood groups and created awareness about cancer. Day 3 was dedicated to Shramadaan (voluntary service). The volunteers carried out a cleanliness drive at the Government Lower Primary School and the Anganwadi premises of the village. In the afternoon, a blood grouping camp was organized for the villagers with the support of the Red Cross unit, enabling many residents to learn about their blood group. On Day 4, the NSS volunteers organized a health awareness rally in the village highlighting the importance of education, sanitation, and hygiene. Sr. Leena Pais conducted a technical session explaining the symptoms, prevention, and treatment of HIV/AIDS (ART) and Tuberculosis (DOTS), thereby spreading awareness about major public health concerns. Day 5 focused on social awareness and community outreach. The volunteers conducted an awareness march carrying placards to dispel myths and misconceptions about AIDS. In the evening, the students presented street plays on social issues such as dowry, child marriage, and addiction, effectively conveying messages of social reform to the villagers. Rev. Fr. Vinod Paul, SJ, Principal of Loyola College, Manvi, addressed the gathering and spoke about various socio-economic challenges and the importance of collective responsibility in addressing them. On Day 6, the focus shifted to environmental protection and conservation. NSS volunteers created water basins around trees in the village to ensure proper water retention and nourishment. Later, Mr. Mariyappa from Loyola Kapi Paladi School delivered a lecture on “Our Responsibility Towards Cleanliness,” encouraging students to adopt sustainable habits. The day concluded with a cultural programme and campfire, strengthening the bond among volunteers and villagers. The valedictory ceremony on Day 7 marked the conclusion of the camp. NSS volunteers shared their experiences and reflected on the valuable lessons they learned through community service. The volunteers expressed gratitude to Raichur University and the management of Loyola College, Manvi for providing such a meaningful platform that combines social service with experiential learning. The camp proved to be a transformative experience for the students, helping them develop leadership, social responsibility, and a deeper understanding of rural community life.
