  • BA Students Showcase Field Study and Practical Work at Loyola College, Manvi

    Loyola College, Manvi organized a workshop and presentation programme on 23rd May 2026 for the fourth and sixth-semester Bachelor of Arts (BA) students, where students presented their practical work and field study projects. The programme highlighted the importance of experiential learning and research-oriented education in shaping socially responsible and academically competent students. Addressing the gathering, Rev. Fr. Vinod Paul, SJ, Principal of Loyola College, Manvi, stated that the fusion of Ignatian pedagogy and field studies creates a strong foundation for quality education. Explaining the core principles of St. Ignatius of Loyola’s pedagogy — Context, Experience, Reflection, Action, and Evaluation — he emphasized that the true objective of education is to transform narrow perspectives into open and progressive thinking. He encouraged students not only to desire change but also to become leaders who actively contribute to the transformation of society. He further noted that Loyola institutions strive to nurture leaders who possess moral values, empathy, social commitment, and efficiency. Several academic experts shared valuable insights during the programme. Dr. Syed Mujeeb Ahmed, Assistant Professor at Government First Grade College, Manvi, encouraged students to move beyond textbook learning and cultivate a research-oriented mindset that seeks truth and innovation. He stressed the importance of discipline, restraint, human values, language skills, and social awareness in building a healthy and progressive society. Shri Chandru N. Hosur, Assistant Professor at Government First Grade College, Manvi, explained that research not only imparts knowledge but also teaches important life values. Comparing research to the process of sculpting stone into a beautiful structure, he stated that great achievements are possible only through perseverance and the ability to overcome challenges. Dr. Basavaraj Sunkeshwar, Assistant Professor at Government First Grade College, Manvi, highlighted the significance of field studies and practical learning in gaining real-world experience. He emphasized that discipline and patience are essential qualities that help students develop leadership abilities and become responsible citizens. Dr. Huliyappa Dumathi, Assistant Professor at Sri Venkateswara Degree College, Manvi, stated that field studies help students strengthen their research aptitude, data collection methods, and analytical skills. He also noted that presenting research findings enhances leadership qualities and communication skills among students. The programme featured well-organized and articulate presentations by the fourth and sixth-semester BA students on various field study topics and practical assignments. The event was attended by Mr. Khasimsab, Vice-Principal, and Mr. Devanna, Head of the Arts Department. The programme began with a prayer song by Mamatha and team, followed by a welcome address by Arogya. Raghu delivered the vote of thanks, while Anny Grace efficiently anchored the event. The workshop and presentation programme provided an excellent platform for students to apply classroom learning to real-life situations, thereby promoting academic growth, leadership qualities, and social awareness.
