“Hesaraayitu Karnataka, Usiraagali Kannada” – Karnataka Has Its Name, Let Kannada Be Our Breath Manvi, November 1, 2026: Loyola Institutions, Manvi, celebrated the 71st Kannada Rajyotsava with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour, honouring the rich heritage, language, and cultural traditions of Karnataka. The programme commenced with the dignitaries inaugurating the celebration by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Floral tributes were offered to the portrait of Goddess Bhuvaneshwari, followed by the rendition of the State Anthem. Students presented speeches and musical performances highlighting the significance of Kannada Rajyotsava, the history of the Kannada language, and the cultural richness of Karnataka. The chief guest, Mr. Mookappa Kattimani, retired Headmaster and former President of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Manvi, addressed the gathering. He recalled the valour of Kittur Rani Chennamma, describing her as a courageous queen who ignited the spirit of resistance against British rule and inspired the struggle for freedom. He explained that, before independence, Kannada-speaking regions were divided among different administrative provinces. Several movements and struggles were undertaken to unite these regions. As a result, Mysore State came into existence on November 1, 1956. Later, in 1973, during the tenure of then Chief Minister D. Devaraj Urs, Mysore State was officially renamed Karnataka. Emphasising the importance of preserving the Kannada language, Mr. Kattimani stated that Kannada is not merely a language but an integral part of our culture, identity, and life. He urged everyone to preserve and promote Kannada traditions, cultural values, and ethical practices. He also highlighted the importance of respecting elders and emphasised that schools must impart moral values alongside academic education to nurture responsible and compassionate individuals. On this occasion, students of Loyola School who secured 100 out of 100 marks in Kannada were felicitated by the dignitaries in recognition of their outstanding academic achievement. The programme was presided over by Rev. Fr. Cyprian Tellis, S.J., Head of Loyola Institutions, Manvi. In his presidential address, he emphasised that Kannada Rajyotsava should not remain a celebration confined to a single day. Instead, the Kannada language, heritage, literature, and culture should be reflected in our everyday lives. He encouraged everyone to move forward with dedication, discipline, and good values. He conveyed the inspiring message that a life of hard work leads to renewal and progress, reminding the gathering of the dignity of labour and the importance of sincere effort in shaping a meaningful life. The celebration was attended by the directors of the various units of Loyola Institutions, principals, teaching staff, and students. The programme served as a meaningful occasion to reaffirm the institution's commitment to promoting the Kannada language, cultural heritage, and the values of Karnataka. The celebration concluded on a patriotic note, reinforcing the message that Kannada is not merely our language but an essential part of our identity, culture, and collective spirit.
